Alan Kay, vid UCLA, är en respekterad amerikansk programmerare och Turingprisvinnare (2003) som under sin tid vid Xerox PARC på 70-talet hjälpte till att ta fram Smalltalk och det första fönsterbaserade GUI:t. Han är dessutom en av fädrarna till konceptet objektorientering samt bärbara datorer. Nu för tiden finner man honom aktiv inom Squeak-communityn.
